About Us

Northwood / Proline has been manufacturing upper end office furniture, custom furniture and custom millwork since 1979. We operate from our own 54,000 square foot facility in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. As an operating philosophy we pursue a diverse mix of jobs and projects that range from standard office furniture products, through specialized hospitality products, to highly customized reception stations or conferencing furniture. Our national client list includes Corporate Offices, Banks, Venture Capital, Law Offices, Hospitals, Major Hotels, Public Facilities and Private Residences. We are committed to excellence in Customer Service, Sales Support, Design Services and Product Quality.

We deliver and install through out Northern California; and for difficult projects we frequently travel to distant job sites to provide direct assistance or expert oversight.


Because of the need to embrace and support sustainability, Northwood Proline is moving quickly to incorporate the principals and administrative procedures necessary for a practical and total commitment to verifiable green manufacturing practices. A measure of this commitment is reflected in the introduction of an exciting family of Desking and Conference products at NeoCon 2007, The Anthony Garrett Collection.

Design Support:

We understand and enjoy the process of working with, and responding to, the ideas, concepts and visions of Architects and Designers. Because of our extensive experience in the development of design solutions, we are confident in our ability to bring forward ideas and suggestions to support this process. Our design and engineering team is highly skilled, and will provide three 3D-renderings as a normal procedure, and will always be available to provide both technical and design advice. On a daily basis our design and engineering team is in contact with furniture dealer representatives, designers / Architects and contractors. We invite inquires, and if invited we will come to see you.

Office Furniture:

Because we began our business as an Office Furniture Manufacture, our quality and standards of fit and finish are driven by the high expectations of major corporate accounts. In addition to offering an array of well designed and highly functional furniture styles for the office, conference and reception areas, we try to distinguish ourselves through our willingness to accommodate and adapt our product to specific design requirements or room configurations. Custom Office Furniture:

We specialize in the design and manufacture of Custom Office Furniture. In addition to standard American Woods, and Veneers we can provide, upon request, memo samples of a broad selection of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified imported woods and veneers. We are also very skilled in the use and integration of a variety of materials to include glass, stone, aluminum, steel, leather and acrylic. We have participated in the design and fabrication of some fairly difficult projects, to include a 24-foot Scissor table, for CALPERS (California Public Retirement System) to include the integration of power data access and imbedded microphones; and a guard station at 333 Bush Street, San Francisco combined required stainless steel, back painted glass, Anegre veneer, absolute black granite, and plastic laminate. Lead Times:

We don’t believe in lead times.

We understand that each project opportunity has its own character and dynamic. Our job is to be a responsive resource. If we can fit a RUSH project in, we will commit to your time requirements; if we cannot, we will explain the reasons and suggest options. We have successfully provided shop drawings and product in as short a time as 2-3 weeks.
